Project Name: Supporting Social Dialogue in the Age of Platform Work and Flexible Employment - SSD
Duration: 24 Months / March 2026 – February 2028
Project is co-financed by EU

Project Coordinator: GENERAL WORKERS UNION TRADE UNION – GWU (Malta)
Co-beneficiaries:
The project addresses the urgent need to modernise social dialogue in response to the rise of platform and flexible work. As non-standard forms of employment expand—often lacking clear employment status, representation, and transparency—traditional social dialogue mechanisms are becoming less effective, particularly in Central, Eastern, and Southern Europe, where structural and legal gaps persist.
The main objective of the SSD project is to strengthen the capacity of social partners to engage in meaningful social dialogue and contribute to policymaking in the platform and flexible economy. The project focuses on capacity building, the development of digital learning tools, and the promotion of transnational social dialogue and policy co-creation aimed at establishing inclusive and adaptable social dialogue frameworks.
Key activities include the development of an online learning platform on social dialogue in new forms of work, the delivery of national training sessions for social partners in all partner countries, the organisation of transnational dialogue workshops, an EU-level social dialogue session, and an online international conference, as well as the co-creation of joint policy recommendations and a strategic roadmap for improving social dialogue in platform and flexible work.
The project will result in strengthened capacities of social partners, improved access to digital training resources, and the production of strategic EU-level outputs that enhance the sustainability and institutional integration of social dialogue in the evolving labour market.
