Employers, associations in the National Union of Employers (NUE), are concerned about the process of adopting a law on the tax on excess profits in the trading of electricity produced by a nuclear installation. They point out that the fact that the government again circumvents the standard legislative process and adopts the law without due comment is an expression of non-respect for the pre-election promises and commitments of members of the ruling coalition, but also of the basic principles of the rule of law. The NUE therefore calls on the competent authorities to withdraw the bill from the sitting of parliament and, together with all the entities concerned, to start discussing systemic solutions for increasing energy prices as soon as possible.

Next year, the minimum wage will increase beyond the scope of the law

The needs of employers and the supply of employees in the labor market, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also the opening up of lifelong learning opportunities have created a demand for more flexible acquisition of qualifications, based on non-formal learning. Professional employment and human development are often hampered not only by a lack of knowledge, skills and competences, but by a lack of evidence of their acquisition. The national project System of Verification of Qualifications in the Slovak Republic (NP SOK), implemented by the State Institute of Vocational Training (ŠIOV) is intended for those people who are interested in having their knowledge, skills and competences acquired through non-formal education, that is during practice or informal learning. Incomes of the public sector in Slovakia have been growing rapidly for more than ten years - where to look for sources of funding for government social packages?

For the past thirteen years, public administration revenues in Slovakia have grown as the sixth fastest among European Union (EU) countries. Its expenses also increased significantly - the average salary of employees in the public sector increased by almost 83%. The number of state employees is constantly growing, approaching the 430,000 mark, despite the billions invested in the electronification of public administration. The tax burden on companies and wages in our country is still the highest among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The results of the analysis were prepared by the Institute of Economic and Social Analysis for the National Union of Employers (NUE).
